德國朋友Klaus 來信了。10月9日離台後，他們一行人赴中國大陸旅遊，返德後的Klaus 因靜脈曲張而動手術。雖說復原狀況良好，我們收到信很是心疼，Klaus畢竟是個70歲的人了。
招待Klaus 期間，早餐在 Eileen 家吃了兩回，我則在週六及週日下廚烤麵包、煎荷包蛋、切水果、沖咖啡。那兩天正好 Ray 在家，一桌五人邊聊邊吃，Cindy 很貼心播放凱文柯恩的鋼琴小品，Klaus 似乎很喜歡這樣悠閒的時光。Klaus 也有感嘆，他和兒子的住處相隔甚遠，一年難得見到面，看到我們全家團聚使他特別思念妻子。
再兩年Cindy離家讀大學，我和 Ron就面臨空巢期了。2014年從教職退休後，我倆將做背包客去環遊世界，拜訪我們曾接待的國際友人。

Dear Ron and Wendy,
Just a note to let You know I have arrived home safely at October 22nd. At the moment we have cloudy and cold weather in Germany, only about 5 degrees of temperature. But I don't catch a cold up to now. In the meantime I have had an operation of varicos vein on both legs. Now I`m fit again.
Wendy I sicerely appreciate all the kind and thougtful things you did for me while I stood at your home. Thank You for preparing the breakfast for me in the morning, and washing my clothes.
Ron thank You for driving and that we was everywhere on time. Also for Your translation and explanations of the interesting trips.
Thank you both for the delicous dinners we have had together, which are so different from the meals in Germany. I enjoyed the time we spent together very much.
Many, many thanks for the excelent book about Taiwan with the stamps inside, and the other gifts.
